To figure out what wicks you’ll need for a double wicked candle, divide the candle's diameter in half. Then, use our [Wick Guide](https://www.candlescience.com/learning/wick-guide/) to choose an appropriate wick for each half.

For example, if your candle is 4" across, half of that is 2". Using our [Wick Guide](https://www.candlescience.com/learning/wick-guide/), you can now choose your wax and the 2 - 2.5" diameter, and you'll see our recommendations for that combination. Depending on the fragrance you’re using, as well as the fragrance load and any dye usage, you may find that two larger or smaller wicks work better for you but the Wick Guide will be the best starting point for testing. We recommend purchasing a 12-pack of each wick size you’re interested in trying and testing them out before investing in larger quantities of a certain wick size.

When you’re ready to double wick your candle, put each of the two wicks halfway between the center of the candle and the outside edge. If it looks like the flames might touch the container's mouth or side, shift them a little closer to the middle. We recommend keeping both wicks at least 1” away from the container wall.
