Why does my fragrance oil discolor my soy wax?

  • Updated

Some ingredients in fragrance oil have the potential to impact the color of your candles. As part of their formulation, our fragrance oils often include natural components like vanillin, citrus oils, and cinnamon.

These ingredients can vary from batch to batch due to their natural character. You may find that your candle wax shifts to a tan color more frequently when using fragrances containing these components, but nothing is wrong with the fragrance. Natural materials just have more variability than synthetic materials do!

While discoloration can change the look of your candle, it will not impact its performance. If you want to reduce the chance of your candle discoloring, lowering your fragrance load can help.
