How much wax will I need to make my candles?

  • Updated

To determine how much wax you will need, you will first need to decide on what container you want to use. We provide the "wax weight to fill line" in ounces for each of our containers in the description. Once you have this information then you'll need to decide how many candles you want to make. Here's the basic formula:

(ounces of wax per container) X (number of containers) = (ounces needed)

(ounces needed) ÷ 16 (ounces in 1 pound) = (pounds of wax needed)

For example, let's say you wanted to make 25 candles in our 8 oz Candle Tins. The wax weight to fill line is 5oz.

5 x 25 = 125 oz of wax

125 ÷ 16 = 7.9 pounds of wax

In this example, you would need at least 7.9 pounds of wax to fill (25) 8 oz Candle Tins. It is a good idea to round up this number. It's always better to have a little wax left over than to not have enough!
