What is LTL freight shipping?
LTL (Less Than Truckload) Freight Shipping is a convenient and fast way to ship large candle supply orders, even to a residence. Transit times are often comparable to UPS Ground while allowing your order to arrive packed in one piece. Keep in mind that, like UPS and USPS services, transit times with TForce Freight are estimated and not guaranteed.
How do I select LTL freight shipping?
For TForce Freight to appear as an option at checkout, your order must be over 300 lbs in one warehouse location and shipping to an eligible address.
When placing your order, select all of the applicable freight options (e.g., full-size or short truck, whether a liftgate is required, etc.) on the Address page of the checkout. If you're not sure which options you need, continue reading!
How do I know if I can receive a freight order?
TForce freight trucks are large and designed to carry pallets. The delivery address must be accessible by a full-size trailer truck. If you are unsure whether or not a full-size truck can reach your delivery location, we recommend selecting the Short Truck Required option to ensure a smooth and timely delivery.
If the Short Truck Required option is not selected and the carrier is unable to access your delivery location with a full-size truck, they will transfer your order to a shorter truck. This will result in a redelivery fee.
If you have a narrow driveway, low-hanging trees, or other potential obstacles on your property, the driver may leave your pallet(s) at the end of your driveway. If you live in a mountainous area or on a winding road they may not be able to deliver to your address.
Please contact us ahead of time if you are unsure if freight delivery is right for you.
What is the difference between a full-size truck and a short truck?
Full-size TForce delivery trucks are around 70 feet long, while TForce short trucks are 40 feet long. If your delivery location is not accessible by the default full-size delivery truck, select the Short Truck Required delivery option at checkout.
How will the order be delivered?
Orders come wrapped on a pallet. If you do not have a dock or forklift at the delivery location, you will need to choose the Liftgate Required option during checkout. This will ensure that the delivery truck has a way to bring the pallet safely down from the trailer without additional equipment. The TForce driver will remove the pallet from the truck, but you will be responsible for unloading the pallet. If there is any issue with your order, like damaged or missing items, make sure that they are noted on the Bill of Lading at delivery before the delivery driver leaves.
While there are no extra fees for residential deliveries, TForce will need to call to schedule an appointment. This can sometimes add a day to transit time. In rare cases, transit time could be longer depending on your local TForce hub's schedule and truck availability. Someone will need to be present at delivery to sign for the order.
Deliveries will be made during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 9-5, without the need for an appointment. If your business is closed at any point during this window, check the Call before delivery option to ensure that TForce schedules a delivery appointment.
